"Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

My First Published Work

That's right, folks! I'm a published writer now. In my attempt to find quirky, out-of-the-way places to stop on our road trip to South Dakota this summer, I came across a website by the name of RoadsideAmerica.com. RoadsideAmerica.com offers tips, leads, and stories submitted by travelers on quirky museums, ironic monuments, and must-see oddities! They offer this word of advise on their website: "Trip planning caution: Some tips may not be verified. Over time, attractions change, move, burn down. But what's a vacation without a little risk?" As I searched this website, I realized that I have seen several odd attractions and quirky places in my travels, and so I looked into what I needed to do to start submitting my own "reviews." And I say "reviews" very lightly...

Well, ladies and gentlemen, they accepted one of my reviews, and I am hopeful that they will accept more in the future. It just might be the shortest review ever, at just 15 words, but I felt like it needed to be said. Plus, no one had ever submitted a picture before, and I really felt like people needed to see what was so impressive about it. I know, it's rather silly, but it was still a pretty cool moment when I opened the email this morning that congratulated me on being "RoadsideAmerica.com's Tip #2287." Woo Hoo! I am tip #2287!!!

I always knew you would one day be published. This is just the beginning. I love reading your Blog. Sometimes I laugh and sometimes I cry. You will one day be read by millions of people and they will be the better for it. I love you.
