"Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Better late than never...

I realize that this update is a little late coming, but at Isaac's 2 year well child check-up back in January, the doctor tested him for a milk/dairy allergy and a latex allergy. To make a long story short, the lab sent in Isaac's blood with the wrong "code" and they winded up testing it for lead. So, I had to take Isaac back to get another blood test done. The first time, the woman who took his blood did a great job - Isaac didn't cry at all. This time, the woman didn't do such a good job, and winded up digging around in Isaac's arm for a few minutes to find the vein. We all hate it when this happens to us, so you can imagine how it felt to watch her doing it to Isaac! AGH! Isaac managed to hold it together (tough little man!) for a little while, but eventually he started crying. Not fun! After the woman couldn't find the vein after digging around in there with the needle, she eventually pricked Isaac's finger and squeezed it (YES!) until she got 2 tubes full of blood. I never want to go back to that lab ever again. But, the results are finally in, and guess what... Isaac is not allergic to milk, dairy or latex. Hmmm... I'm not quite sure what to think about that. The nurse said she's just as puzzled as I am about all of this. Isaac would have to get the skin prick test done next time if we want to determine exactly what Isaac is allergic to. For now we are not going to do this because Isaac's allergies seem to be under control for now with just a few minor modifications in his life. Oh, and Isaac doesn't have lead in his blood either. :-)
