"Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

You Know What We Need Here?

Some more Christmas pictures! Woo Hoo! Aren't you excited? We finally have all of the yard decorations and lights up on the outside of the house. As we were hanging the last strand of lights on the roof of the house, Hector announced that for his 40th birthday he wants to hire someone to put the Christmas lights up on our house every year, for the rest of his life! I guess climbing up on the roof of his house just doesn't pack the same level of excitement these days for Hector as it did when he was a teenager... :-) But it was exciting getting to see how thrilled Samuel, Avery and Isaac were with the way the house looked. We're going for a gingerbread house theme. So far, we've got the candy canes, peppermints, and icicle lights. We're still trying to find some over sized ornaments that look like pieces of candy to go into the tree in the front yard, and some big blow-up gingerbread figures. After we can find those things, our gingerbread house theme will be complete!
Hector, Samuel and Avery were on their way to Samuel's Cub Scout Meeting.
Isaac decided that even though Hector, Samuel and Avery were gone, he wasn't ready to go inside. He wanted to stay outside and run up and down the front pathway, hitting each candy cane, and shouting "Wee!" Little Toot!
This was his reaction when I told him to stop hitting the candy canes.
So he decided to start messing with the lights on the juniper tree...
Here are a couple of pictures of the big kids pulling out an ornament from our Advent calendar this morning, and then putting the ornament on the tree.
