Avery: "Mama, how many children did you want when you were first married?"
Me: "I wanted to have 6 children, Avery."
Avery: "So, I guess you got what you wanted."
Me: "What do you mean, Avery? I only have 3 children."
Avery: "But you do have 6 children; Me, Samuel, Bubba, Molly, Maisy and Lid'l Lee."
Me: "You're right, Avery. How could I have not seen that?"
Leave it to Avery to teach me a new way of looking at something...
Some women give birth to their own biological child, and become a mother to that child. Some women open their hearts to another woman's biological child, and become a mother to that child. Some women choose to care for the forgotten, abused and neglected children of the world, and become a mother to many. Some women open their home to an animal, and become a mother to a furry child.
Happy Mother's Day, to all of the world's mothers!
Quote of the Month
"Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
