Quote of the Month

"Be not the slave of your own past. Plunge into the sublime seas, dive deep and swim far, so you shall come back with self-respect, with new power, with an advanced experience that shall explain and overlook the old." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

God is.......

Last night, Avery asked me if God is Mexican. When I told her no, she asked me why not. So I started explaining to Avery that God is none of those things (Mexican, Italian, French, etc.), because He's not a real person. And I felt like I did a pretty good job of explaining it all, until I saw the puzzled look on Avery's face. I knew another question was coming. "But Mommy, my choir teacher told me that God created me to look just like him. And if I'm Mexican, then God must be Mexican too." I just sat there, taking in the profoundness of what my 5 year old daughter had just said. Finally, all I could think to say was, "You've got a really good point there, Avery." And then it occurred to me. Maybe Avery is right. Maybe it's not that God is none of those things. Maybe He's ALL of those things. All of them, wrapped up into one magnificent God. Maybe God is Mexican after all! :-)
